Progess updates of what I’m working on now

Ouroboros build

More, less, transformation, evolution, construction, reduction, growth, refinement, flow, creation, removal, enhancement, generation, destruction, before, after, process, chaos, resolution, disturbance.

These essential Qi elements govern all occurrences in the World.

The Great Snake Wheel consumes and generates itself in endless unfathomable repetition.

The Great Wheel

THE GREAT WHEEL isn’t only up and down, success or failure, it’s more of a turntable, like a lazy-Susan at a Chinese banquet, where the dishes come around periodically, and you can choose or not as things go by.

Or like, in many global mythologies, the Ouroboros, a snake 🐍 biting its tale, the Circle of Life, re-incarnation, Infinity.  But, not as simple as a wheel, more a moebius strip or knotted coil, where the path around is not obvious, and hidden.

Crocodile Balances the World, preview

The world had fallen out of balance.
The Dragon King of the South Ocean is missing (Where did he go?)
Nothing is on its axis.
Who will hold up the world?
There are no more Dragons.

A Crocodile offers to try.
He says, “I am large, and the closest thing to a Dragon. I will try”.
He steps up onto the back of the Great Turtle and grasps the World
And lifts it up and balances it on the end of his nose.
As he does this he himself becomes a Dragon.

“Crocodile Balances the World and Becomes the Dragon King”

The world had fallen out of balance as the Dragon King of the South Ocean had gone missing (Where did he go?). Nothing remained in its proper axis, and there were no more Dragons to uphold the world.

Amidst the imbalance, a Crocodile stepped forward and offered to try. He stated, “I am large and the closest thing to a Dragon. I will give it a shot.” With determination, he mounted the back of the Great Turtle, seized the World, and carefully balanced it on the end of his nose.

In this selfless act, the Crocodile underwent a transformation, becoming a Dragon himself—the savior the world needed.

The style of this tale draws inspiration from my Bee micro-dramas, where the Crocodile embodies the role of an Everyman, earnestly striving to restore equilibrium to the World. His humility only enhances his noble efforts and aspirations.

Puja HB

It feels like puja season, and the Summer’s Horse Bodhisattva shrine is over. Presenting the movie-ette version.

Try to put a sculpture into a media-rich environment like Instagram, and you quickly see the use of series, video, storytelling, and music, it enlivens the subject. The Art becomes a character in the center of a potentially star-building narrative system.

I create actual stuff, things, objects. I act with things in my environment; tools, studio, garden, home. I’ll continue to, because that what living is to me. Meanwhile, I don’t know what to do about the rich-media online environment. I like dipping into it, making a few comments, but I don’t really need it for anything, and it is a lot of work to maintain it well. It is ultimately about finding a place that can fully support all your madness, delusions, and hallucinations.

Bee, season 1 credits

How to explain the Bee, is, many media influences together, without more connection than happens in a person’s (mine) Mind. A continuous surf session on the phone while laying on the couch during Covid-19. Here are the elements and their sources, listed:

Lucy Price, and Megan Slattery, for motivational self inspiration.
Emma Pryde, for Glory Kitsch
Alexa Lee, the Bee Gardener
Racheal Bunting, for unlimiting exaggeration and metaphor
K Drama, for rich soup narratives and graphic design
WebToons, for serial stories
Emma Rodseth, for noticing everything, and bee Poet.
Afreeca.com, for livestreaming
The Hangers, for understanding and encouragement.
Peter Sparling, for A Month of Goldbergs

All my work now has a strong narrative content. I imagine and get to use more cultural connections than when I was an austere minimalist, as I was years ago. Of course, all-hail materials and process, but I want to fool around more now.

When trying to put a sculpture into a media-rich environment like Instagram, and you quickly see the use of series, video, storytelling, and music, it enlivens the subject matter. The art becomes the character in the center of a potentially star-building narrative system.

I create actual stuff, things, objects. I act with things in my environment, tools, studio, garden, home. I’ll continue to, because that what living is to me. Meanwhile, I don’t know what to do about the rich-media online environment. I like dipping into it, making a few comments, but I don’t really need it for anything, and it is a lot of work to maintain it well. For Documentation of Record, this blog here is a much better medium overall. It is all ultimately about finding a spot that can fully support all your madness, delusion and hallucination.
